Omar alawad
Omar is AMEL’s Project Manager for Sudan. An experienced international development professional, Omar has several years of experience in managing civil society and governance projects in Sudan. In 2020, Omar founded the DTD Sudan capacity development program, which focused on democratic transition support and contributed to strengthening the capacity of civil society to drive change.
In 2021, he was among the recipients of the prestigious Chevening Scholarship. In 2022, Omar completed an MSc in Development Studies from the Institute of Development Studies at the University of Sussex, with a focus on democracy and participation, and was awarded Distinction for his dissertation on the failures of democracy in Sudan.
