The Sudan Democracy Lifeline Fellowship is a transformative non-residential program designed to address the urgent need for evidence-based research and analysis on Sudan. This program aims to empower Sudanese activists with the skills and knowledge to influence international discourse and decision-making on critical issues facing Sudan today. This intensive fellowship will equip 5 passionate activists with the platform and expertise to conduct rigorous research, produce evidence-based publications, and contribute meaningfully to the advancement of democracy in Sudan. The fellowship will take place over a span of 5 months, from February until June 2024.

Key Components:

Sudan conflict and democracy fundamentals: Fellows will gain knowledge on key topics related to Sudan context provided by Sudanese experts.
Research Training: Fellows will engage in structured online workshops covering academic research, data collection, coding and analysis, and social media analysis.
Monthly Research Outputs: Fellows will be tasked with producing monthly research products that analyze current issues in Sudan. The work will form part of an evolving repository of evidence-based insights.
Collaboration: Fellows will participate in weekly online discussions, collaborate with peers, and receive expert feedback to refine analytical approaches.
International Engagement: Fellows will join monthly meetings focused on the international discourse about Sudan, gaining valuable insights and helping to shape issue education initiatives.

We are seeking individuals who:

Demonstrate commitment to complete all the fellowship intensive requirements

Fluency in Arabic, and English is preferred.

Financial Support: Recognizing the time-intensive commitment, each fellow will receive a stipend to facilitate dedicated participation in the program.

Research Themes:

The central theme of the fellowship revolves around democracy in Sudan. Nevertheless, participants will be encouraged to narrow their research focus to a specific topic or perspective within the broader theme of democracy in Sudan. These focused areas include human rights, civil society, international diplomacy, development, peace and conflict, gender intersectionality and participation, and youth empowerment and participation.
